Tagbilaran City maximizes the use of its Special Education Fund (SEF) in completing multi-purpose covered courts in some of the city’s public schools.

To date, the covered courts in San Isidro and Dao Elementary Schools are currently under construction

Moreover, the construction of 11 covered courts is already completed. The completed covered courts are located at Dampas Elementary School, Tagbilaran City Science High School, Mansasa Elementary School, Bool Elementary School, Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School, Manga National High School, Manga Elementary School, Ubujan Elementary School, San Isidro National High School, Eastern Cogon Elementary School, and City East Elementary School.

From P25 million in 2012, the SEF of Tagbilaran City ballooned to P85 million this year.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is thankful to the taxpayers in the city for unwavering compliance, which is the reason for the additional funds in the SEF.

“The taxes which are religiously paid by our constituents are helping our educational programs in Tagbilaran, either by providing sound infrastructure or equipment to both our public elementary and high schools. We are grateful to the trust, support, and commitment of our taxpayers. Truly, they make governance a shared responsibility,” Mayor Yap emphasized.

The rehabilitation of 8 public schools in Tagbilaran City which sustained damage due to typhoon Odette will be given priority this year. The repair and rehabilitation of Cabawan Elementary School, City East Elementary School, Mansasa Elementary School, Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School, including its Special Education (SPED) Center, Taloto Elementary School, Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, and Tagbilaran City Science High School are in the pipeline.

The project will also include the repair of 55 classrooms and replacement of 16 classrooms in City East Elementary School and Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School.

Aside from these projects, the SEF is used for the salaries of 60 utility and job order workers and 10 city-paid teachers.

The SEF also shouldered the procurement of senior high school equipment and the payment of the salary of security guards posted in all public elementary and high schools in Tagbilaran City.
