The electric distribution utilities (DU) are looking to get power from the diesel power plant in Dampas and the power barge stationed in Ubay, according to reports.
This comes as Bohol suffers from a blackout due to the inability of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to provide power to Bohol.
Betty Martinez, NGCP spokesperson, revealed that a landslide in Baybay, Leyte toppled 4 steel towers of the company affecting the line providing power to Bohol.
As this developed, the DUs are looking to tap the alternative power sources within the next few days, the reports say.
The report added that at least one of the 3 DUs operating in Bohol already requested Salcon Power Corporation (SPC) to provide power to Bohol via the diesel power plant and the power barge.
In the event the SPC grants the request to draw power from the 2 power sources, the DUs will then seek the permission of regulatory bodies such as the Department of Energy (DOE).
