LGU Panglao ranks no. 1 as most competitive town among 3rd and 4th class municipalities

The local government unit (LGU) Panglao is ranked as the number 1 most competitive town among 3rd and 4th class municipalities in the country.
This is based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) 2021 which is backed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The latest fete of the town is another feather in the cap of Mayor Leonila Montero who has steered Panglao as the tourism hub of Bohol and one of Central Visayas’ diving meccas.
The CMCI is an annual ranking developed by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) through the Regional Competitiveness Councils (RCC) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the DTI.
The aim of the CMCI is to stimulate among LGUs which is based on 4 pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency, according to the DTI on its website.
Among the most competitive 3rd and 4th class towns in the country are Jagna (6th place); Catigbian (31st place); Sagbayan (86th place); Trinidad (95th place) and Maribojoc (97th place).
Moreover,  the most competitive 5th and 6th class towns in the country located in Bohol are Corella (26th place); Batuan (31st place); Clarin (32nd place); Albur (35th place); Anda (49th place); Lila (52nd place); Loay (55th place) and Sevilla (59th place).
