COMELEC ACTING PROVINCIAL ELECTION SUPERVISOR EDDIE ABA

The acting provincial election supervisor of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Bohol, Eddie Aba, revealed that 2 towns in Bohol are tagged as election hotspots are placed under the red category.

Aba revealed this information in an interview with The Bohol Tribune on May 6, 2022.

The 2 Bohol towns placed under the red category hotspot are Inabanga and Sevilla.

These towns are placed in the red category as they are deemed to be. be “critical areas” or areas of grave concern where there is history of election-related incidents with serious armed threats.

The COMELEC placed the towns of Antequera, Balilihan, Calape, Catigbian, Tubigon, Bien Unido, Clarin, Danao, Sagbayan, San Isidro, San Miguel, Talibon, Trinidad, Ubay, Batuan, Bilar, Carmen, Guindulman and Mabini under the orange category.

This means that the aforementioned towns are areas of immediate concern where there is serious armed threat, based on COMELEC guidelines.

Moreover, the towns of Baclayon, Buenavista, Getafe, Garcia Hernandez, Loay and Bilar are in yellow category. The yellow category means the areas have a history of election-related incidents with the possible employment of partisan armed groups.

The COMELEC adopted the color-coding system to identify the election hotspot areas .

Meanwhile, Aba said the COMELEC is now prepared to conduct the elections here in Bohol tomorrow, May 9, 2022.

The polling places are opening at 6 am and close at 7 pm, according to reports.

The COMELEC here in Bohol already conducted the testing of the vote counting machines (VCM) on May 4, 2022.

Based on the testing, 13 VCMs were found defective and were sent back to Cebu City as the replacement machines are expected to arrive soon.
