ROCBDC declares Cabawan as drug-cleared brgy. 

The Regional Oversight on Barangay Drug Clearing Committee (ROCBDC) has declared barangay Cabawan as a drug-cleared village based on the information released during the recent joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), and the City Development Council (CDC) on July 6, 2022, reports said.

Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap hit the ground by presiding over the joint meetings of the CPOC, CADAC and the CDC on July 6, 2022 with former Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and Vice Mayor Adam Jala with her.

In the CADAC meeting, where Mayor Jane Yap was the one presiding over the meeting, it was learned Cabawan achieved the status of a drug-cleared barangay by the ROCBDC.

The ROCBDCs is composed of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the local government units.

The news about barangay Cabawan latest achievement was announced by Alvin Acuzar, who is a member of the CADAC, saying the said barangay has complied with all the requirements to be declared drug-cleared.

Furthermore, Acuzar clarified that “drug-cleared” is not the same as “drug-free.”  A drug-cleared barangay is a place where drug addicts and pushers have undergone rehabilitation and all who are involved in illegal drugs have been identified. 

On the other hand, a drug-free barangay is an area where there are no illegal drugs can be found as well as drug personalities and drug dens.

To date, two barangays in Tagbilaran City have complied with the requirements for being drug-cleared, and they are barangays San Isidro and Cabawan.

Moreover, Acuzar thanked and acknowledged the collaborative efforts among the City PNP, PDEA, DILG, and the DOH for the support in making Cabawan a drug-cleared barangay.

The CADAC member also added the council’s target for 2022 is to have more barangays in the city declared as drug cleared.

Meanwhile, in the joint meeting, the members of the CDC also approved the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for 2022. Among the items included in the AIP are the construction of the Tagbilaran Public Cemetery and Tagbilaran City Coliseum.
