Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap has just been elected as the regional representative for Region 7 of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) following voting activities done in Quezon City on July 21, 2022, according to reports confirmed by Mayor Yap herself to the The Bohol Tribune in a text message.

She said that the 15 other city mayors all over Central Visayas voted for her as she ran unopposed for the position. She is also the youngest city mayor in Central Visayas.

The lady mayor said that she is humbled by the trust and confidence of other city mayors of Central Visayas on her leadership and hopes to use her position to bring progress to all cities in the region.

The cities in Central Visayas are Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Bogo, Carcar, Talisay, Danao, Naga, and Toledo in Cebu province; Canlaon, Guinulngan, Bais, Tanjay, Bayawan and Dumaguete in Negros Oriental and Tagbilaran City in Bohol.

Former mayor John Geesnell Yap II used to be the representative for Central Visayas to the LCP.

Moreover, Cebu City mayor Michael Rama was elected as the president of LCP.

As there is only one city in Bohol, the province has a single representative to the LCP and that is the mayor of Tagbilaran City.

The LCP was created in 1988 in accordance with Republic Act (RA) 7160, the ‘Local Government Code,’ to help ventilate and solidiify the issues affecting city government administrations.
