Dauis vice mayor Marietta “Miriam” Sumaylo denied allegations that she received bribe from a private investor involved in water supply distribution.

The vice mayor made the denial in a radio interview on Aug. 11, 2022 aired over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

The vice mayor said that there are rumors circulating and saying that the second highest official in Dauis town is receiving bribe or a “percentage” from Richli Corporation.

Earlier, the vice mayor went to Facebook to deny the allegations.

“Adunay nagreport nato karon buntaga nga si Miriam Sumaylo kuno nagdawat og porsento sa Richli Waters Corp.?” the vice mayor said in her Facebook post.

“Bisan usa ka centavo way gidawat si Miriam Sumaylo sa Richli. Kita andam mohatag og premyo P200,000 .00 sa tawo na mobarog sa korte musulti kinsa ang naghimo sa maong storia. chat lang or text,” she added.

In the interview, Sumaylo said she already went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to find out the people behind the spreading of false information against her.

“Gikan ta sa NBI karon [Aug. 11, 2022], kay naa tay ipatawag next week nga mga tawo nga mobarug o concerned,” the mayor revealed in the interview.

The vice mayor said that the fake news has been circulating in Dauis for the past couple of weeks.

The vice mayor said that she is determined to clear her name and her family’s as the vice mayor denied receiving any form of bribe or percentage.

“Wala gyud nato na gihimo, bisan usa ka centavo wala ta modawat ug suhol para makahimo ug negosyo o makasosyo sa mga negosyante sa atong lungsod sa Dauis,” the vice mayor mentioned in the interview.

ASSISTANCE

Meanwhile, Sumaylo said that she has been distributing the educational assistance grant for selected graduating junior and senior high school students in Dauis.

“Ang 1,000 ka mga graduates nato makadawat ug tag P3,000 gikan na sa office ni Sen. Bong Go ug sa office ni [former] President Duterte,” the vice mayor revealed the information during the radio interview.
