Cong. Edgar Chatto said that critics and criticisms are part and parcel of public service.

This was the reaction of the solon when asked by the program hosts about the matter during an interview over “Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa” radio program on Aug. 24, 2022 hosted by Ardy Araneta – Batoy and Dave Albarado.

The hosts, referring to no basher in particular, asked the solon about his  reaction to critics and their criticisms posted in social media against elected officials. The solon said: “Wala mausob ang klima sa atong panerbisyo. Bisan unsaon nimu ug himo sa husto,  nindot nga mga proyekto dinha sa atong lalawigan, naa gyud mga tawo nga dili malipay,” the solon said during the interview.

He added that critics don’t want some government officials to be successful in public service.

As this developed, Chatto said he welcomes constructive comments and suggestions to ensure effective governance.

Chatto also said that even during his time as governor, he had critics airing negative propaganda against him.

He pointed out that criticisms against public officials are nothing new.

However, the solon is confident that his track record is his reply to critics who would engage in spreading negative propaganda. He also said that he will continue with his tasks and responsibilities which he believes are gifts from God.

ABOUT THE GGCMMSH

In relation to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Multi-Specialty Hospital (GCGMMH) in Cortes, Chatto admitted that he worked towards the realization of the said project even during his time as governor of Bohol. He acknowledges the help extended to the project by former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Ernesto Pernia. Chatto also said that RA 11883  was helped on the Senate by Senators Bong Go and Sonny Angara

Chatto was one of those who looked for ways to fund and he even facilitated in the donation of the land where the future hospital will be located.

Chatto stressed that if there are allegations of anomalies in the transactions involving the GCGMMSH, the questions should be raised to the implementing agency.

“Tan-awa, nga ang implementing agency ana is the Department of Health (DOH). So, if you ask questions about its implementation, raise your questions to the right people who can answer,” the congressman explained.

He added that if critics have evidence regarding alleged anomalies, if there are any,  then they should show

them, otherwise these people are trying to destroy the benefits that the hospital in Cortes could bring to Boholanos.

Moreover, he added that he will be the one to question if there are evidences of anomalies in the implementation of the Cortes campus of the GCGMMSH.
