BIR-RDO 84 breaches collection growth rate of 11.58%, collects ₱1.39 billion

Despite emerging and unceasing economic challenges brought by the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and typhoon Odette, among others , the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 84 based in Tagbilaran City,  managed to achieve an 11.58% growth rate, in the process collected P1.39 billion in taxes, reports indicate.

RDO 84 is headed by Revenue District Officer Estrella Bernaldez and Assistant Revenue District Officer Emma Alabat.

The said total tax amount collected by the said RDO was obtained during the period spanning January to June 2022.

In the same period last year the RDO only collected P1.25 billion.

Thus, the collection in the 1st semester of. 2022 is P144.23 million higher compared to last year, according to records of the BIR.

In July 2022, RDO No. 84 collected a total tax amount of ₱282.37 million, surpassing  its collection goal for the month by a whooping ₱47.16 million or 20.05%. 

BIR-Revenue Region (RR) No. 13 – Cebu City awarded RDO No. 84 as a “Top  Performing Revenue District Office” for the months of March 2022, June 2022 and July 2022,  outshining the other 4 RDO in the region which are  Mandaue City (RDO

80), Cebu City North (RDO 81), Cebu City South (RDO 83), and Talisay City (RDO 83).

Likewise, with the exemplary leadership and professionalism of RDO Bernaldez in achieving tax collections, RR No. 13 lauded her as a “Top Performing Revenue District Officer” for the said months. 

Recently, BIR Commissioner Lilia Catris Guillermo commended the RDOs, including Tagbilaran City, which surpassed their collection target by at least 20% in July 2022.

Furthermore, RDO 84 of Tagbilaran City ranked number 23 out of the 132 district offices nationwide, including the Collecting Offices under the Large Taxpayers Service, with a district goal attainment of 120.48%.

The goal attainment was based on BIR Collection Report as of August 15, 2022 provided by the Collection Service, excluding collections from non-recurring  transactions (as defined in Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 60-2021.

RDO Bernaldez gratefully expressed gratitude to the Boholano taxpayers, who diligently pay and comply with their tax obligations despite the many economic challenges.

She also lauded the men and women of the RDO who are dedicated in doing their job with efficiency, effectiveness, and love for our country. 

The BIR has set its tax revenue collection target to ₱2.438 trillion for this year.

Meanwhile, the BIR is on its track in improving the tax administration through the focus on digitalization in order to raise the much needed revenues to fund and support various government projects.
