The town of Jagna, led by Mayor Joseph Rañola, celebrated its annual fiesta in honor of the Archangel, St. Michael on Sept. 29, 2022, according to reports.
This is the first time in a couple of years that the town celebrated its fiesta with gusto as the restrictions have been relaxed since the number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases has declined.
The town did not only celebrate its fiesta but also the commemoration of the 391st year of Jagna’s founding.
On the eve of the fiesta, the town had a fluvial parade and a medical mission acitivity. The day was capped with a cultural show sponsored by Du Ek Sam.
Du Ek Sam which is among the titans in the motorcycle and appliance retail industry had its beginnings in Jagna town, according to reports.
On the fiesta day itself, Sept, 29, 2022, the celebrations started with a Pontifical Mass with Talibon bishop Daniel Parcon as the main celebrant. This was held at the St. Michael Church.
Added to the above activities were the 3 wins cockfight derby and the Sinoog Estokada streetdancing culminating with a Variety Show.
Rañola in a post said that the real spirit of the fiesta is to let everyone enjoy the festivities without much fanfare.
BLESSING
The fiesta is a way to give thanks to the blessings that the town received.
One of the blessings the town obtained is from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).
The DSWD implemented a cash-for-work program for the villagers of barangay Pagina.
This program created another opportunity to ease the financial burdens of the communities most affected by the crisis.
At the same, the program encouraged community participation.
