BILAR, Bohol – Domingo Compoc, alias Kumander Cobra, the most wanted leader of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Bohol and one of the Top 10 most wanted criminals in Philippine history, met his end in a fierce clash with the joint forces of the Bohol Police Provincial Office and the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion on Friday, February 23, 2024.

The encounter took place at around 6:52 a.m. in Purok Matin-ao 2, Barangay Campagao, Bilar, Bohol, where Compoc and his group of remnants of the Bohol Party Committee (BPC) were hiding.

The government forces launched a Joint Enhanced Military Police Operation (JEMPO) to capture or neutralize Compoc, who has a P2.6 million bounty on his head.

The gun battle lasted for more than two hours, resulting in the death of Compoc and four of his followers, namely Parlito Segovia alias Aldrin, Marlon Omosura alias Darwin, Atty. Hannah Joy Cesista alias Maya/Lean, and an individual known as alias Juaning.

Six firearms, including two assault rifles and three pistols, were also recovered from the scene.

Compoc was a former Commanding Officer of the Sandatahang Yunit Pangpropaganda (SYP) Platoon of the BPC.

He was facing multiple criminal charges, such as rebellion, homicide, theft, murder, and robbery. He was also the father of Jingler alias Keth, who was killed along with four others, including a Lumad leader, in a previous encounter with the government forces in Bilar in September 2023.

Sadly, two PNP personnel were also killed and wounded in the operation.

The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division lauded the 47IB and the PNP for their successful operation that led to the downfall of Compoc and his group, who were responsible for many crimes and atrocities in Bohol.

“The death of Compoc is a major setback for the CTG’s recovery group in Bohol. We have been relentlessly pursuing him and his cohorts since we neutralized their recovery team in September 2023. We are determined to bring justice to the victims of their violence and to prevent them from regaining their influence in Bohol. We will continue to protect the province and its people from the threats of the CTG,” 3ID Commander Major General Marion R. Sison said.

He also expressed his condolences to the families of the slain PNP personnel and the communist-terrorists. He urged the remaining members of the BPC to surrender peacefully and return to the fold of the law.

“Do not waste your lives fighting for a lost cause. You will never succeed in your attempts to destabilize Bohol, as the people are united against you. Come back to your government and your family, who truly care for you,” he said.
