The Municipality of Loon led by Mayor Elvie Relampagos and Vice Mayor Loyd Lopez together with the Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay captains, the Office of Cong Edgar Chatto represented by Atty. Abel Damalerio, Chief of Staff and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-1) led the launching of the province’s first ever submarine water pipeline connecting Sandingan, Loon and the 5 barangays of Cabilao Island.

The project is a long cherished dream of island residents who wanted to have their own water supply system.

Island residents of Cabilao used to get water through containers from Barangay Mocpoc in nearby Sandingan Island which is connected by a causeway to Mainland Loon where the water source is located.

The DPWH, under District Engineer John Gascon, implemented the P50Million project.

An additional allocation of P20Million for the distribution lines is in the 2024 national budget.

LGU Loon expressed their thanks and appreciation to Chatto for facilitating the release of the funds for the realization of the project.

Mayor Relampagos and Vice Mayor Lopez took turns in saying that Chatto did not only help bring water to Cabilao. They recalled that Chatto was primarily responsible for the entry of 24 hour power to the islands in the first district, including 2 from Inabanga under the service area of BOHECO 1 years back.

The launching and energization was held during Chatto’s birthday with NAPOCOR and BOHECO officials present.

The entry of the NAPOCOR Special Power Utilities Group (SPUG) to serve Bohol islands resulted in reliable and affordable 24-hour power supply with rates reduced to more than half of the original cost before becoming a SPUG service area through Chatto’s intervention.

Present during the commissioning of the project were Balilihan Vice Mayor Trisha Chatto as well as First District Board Members Benjie Arcamo and Aldner Damalerio.

Another school building project for Cabilao Island is set to be implemented by DPWH under the School Building Program of the Department of Education for 2024.
