Dr. Wilson U. Du, CEO of the WE Group of Companies, holds propagules as he leads his staff members in the company’s Mangrove Planting activity.

With the slogan, “WE Plant. WE Chant. WE are Gallant”, close to a hundred employees of the WE Group of Companies (WGC) participated in the mangrove planting and coastal cleanup activity at Balili, Danao, in the town of Panglao.

As part of WGC’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the activity took place on October 1, 2022 from 5:30 a.m. to a little after 9:00 a.m., with the close guidance of Ms. Arlene and Ms. Anafe of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

Ms. Evelyn Zamora-Du, Vice-President of the WE Group of Companies, eagerly supports the group participating in the company activity.

Headed by Wilson U. Du, M.D., WGC’s CEO and President and supported by Ms. Evelyn Z. Du, WGC’s V-President, together with the couple’s three (3) sons (Kenneth, Kyle, and Kraig), the WGC employees planted 1,500 mangrove propagules. The group also collected almost one dozen of sacks of coastal garbage along the shoreline of the activity site.

Out of the eight (8) business units of WGC, four (4) joined the environmental-related exercise with each unit sending delegates to comprise the almost 100 participants – totaling to practically 30% of the entire WGC population.

Employees of the WE Group of Companies gather for a photo opportunity after the Mangrove Planting activity.

The choice of the location of the activity, according to an insider, is anchored on the buzz that “Kew Panglao Hotel” will soon break grounds in the said municipality – known as the tourism hub of the island province of Bohol.

WGC wishes to extend its gratitude and thanks to Hon. John Arbitrario, barangay captain, and the officials of the Local Government Unit of barangay Danao for welcoming the team and assisting it in securing the collected garbage to Danao’s Material Recovery Facility.
