Top pulmonologist says that Covid will soon become endemic

Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza said that there will come a time that the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic shall become endemic or something that we will live with.
A disease is called endemic when it is regularly found among persons in an area.

This means that we will soon be able to live with the fact that Covid will no longer go away and

the development of new drugs and vaccinations will become the new normal just like with the flu or pneumonia.
“Karong panahuna padung na ta sa sitwasyon diin ang Covid maimo ng endemic kay gamay naman lang

ang atong kaso niini although aduna pa gyu’y sporadic cases nga musaka pero kadali lang sya muobos,” he said during an interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa aired on Oct. 12, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.
He said the problem of Covid today is more manageable compared to a little over a year

ago where the vaccines were non-existent.
The only people who are at risk with Covid complications are those who remain unvaccinated,

the doctor emphasized.
Moreover, it is too early to tell whether or not there will be long-term effects on the child o

f a mother who contracted Covid during pregnancy. This means that it is too early to say if there would be any lasting effects on the child whose mother was affected by Covid.
He said that only time will tell if there would be effects on the child later on in life. The children born to mothers who got Covid while pregnant showed no signs of adverse effects.

However, this situation may change as the child gets older as there could be adverse problems that may

surface as a result of Covid infection.
