Former President Rodrigo Duterte issued a statement, wherein he denied the allegations that the Sumaylo couple is involved in the illegal drug trade.

In a video circulating online and posted on the Facebook account of Dauis vice mayor Marietta Sumaylo, the former president said there is no truth to the statements alleged by Dauis mayor Roman “Amoi” Bullen.

Mayor Bullen alleged that Dauis vice mayor Marietta Sumaylo and Liga ng mga Barangay-Dauis chapter president Josever Sumaylo are involved in the illegal drug trade based on a list in the possession of Duterte.

The Dauis mayor made the allegation during his speech at the Dauis municipal grounds on Oct. 10, 2022.

To recall, it was alleged that Duterte and former Bohol Governor Victor de la Serna had a conversation and allegedly compared notes where it appeared that the Sumaylos and Ryan Sigue are involved in the illegal drug trade.

Moreover, Duterte said that if he would be divulging names of drug lords he would do so publicly and on television.

During his term, Duterte in a number of occasions bared the names of some drug lords.

It was in the former president’s campaign that he promised and said that he wanted to rid of illegal drugs in the country.

However, even when Duterte is done with his term as Philippine president, the drug problem is still persisting.

Back in 2019, there were rumors that during a campaign sortie in Garcia-Hernandez town, the former president would divulge the names of drug personalities in Bohol on stage, but it never happened.

Duterte never mentioned publicly any name from Bohol who is involved in the drug trade.
