Tagbilaran City maintains its stature as most competitive component city in the Visayas based on the National Competitiveness Council Philippines data.

Reports say that Bogo City in Cebu Province ranked second, followed by Calbayog City in Samar province as placer. 

In the entire country, Tagbilaran City ranked 29th as most competitive among all component cities based on the data revealed during the 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Cities Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) on October 20, 2022.

City Mayor Jane Yap thanked all the department heads for their hard work and dedication in making the latest accolade possible.

“This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the City Government. The sound fiscal management of the city has also been a game-changer for Tagbilaran City. The local executive thanked the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) and said this recognition is a testament of the focus and commitment of the City Government to deliver relevant public service”, the mayor said.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) -Cities for Enhanced Governance and Engagement (CHANGE) project through its coordinator, Dr. Linda Paredes, helped organize the data capture and monitoring team of Tagbilaran City Government. The said team is responsible in doing the research, monitoring, and data-gathering for needed for the documents to be submitted to the DTI for the CMCI. Cities and municipalities are ranked on their competitiveness based on an overall competitiveness score which are determined by the values of the actual data, as well as the completeness of the submitted data from the local government units.
