The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has urged motorists to practice safety driving in order to avoid untoward road accidents.

The police made the appeal after a perceived increase in road accidents was observed lately.

Lt. Col. Joseph Berondo of the BPPO said that the police organization consistently reminds the motorists to observe safety while driving their respective vehicles.

Based on BPPO data, there have been 62 traffic-related incidents recorded from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, 2022 where 4 persons have died.

The police have been implementing traffic rules and regulations in order to bring down the road accidents in the various towns in Bohol, Berondo said.

As this developed, at least one died in a road accident in Bilar town on Dec. 8, 2022.

Local police reported that a certain Erlinda Anub, 63, of Pilar town died following the accident.

The bus encountered the accident around 9:30 am on Thursday as the vehicle was proceeding to Tagbilaran City.

The other injured passengers were rescued and brought to a hospital in Tagbilaran City as some of the passengers were brought to a hospital in Carmen town.

It was reported that at least 25 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident which happened along barangay Villa Aurora, Bilar town. Allegedly the accident happened when the driver, identified as Joseph Ratilla, lost control of the bus.

Ratilla was uninjured and tried to avoid tremendous damage as the bus sweved and ended in a ditch.

The police is still investigating the circumstances of the road mishap, reports add.
