Top pulmonologist recommends the continuation of the wearing of face masks as Covid cases in China have surged

Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza still recommends that the public will wear face masks as Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases surge in China.

This was the statement of the doctor during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Jan. 4, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

He said there is a subvariant of the Omicron variant of Covid causing a surge of cases in China.

He fears that the subvariant may find its way here to Bohol and may lead to a serious surge of Covid cases.

The doctor said that the mortality rate now due to Covid is low.

This is due to the fact that a lot of people here have been vaccinated.

However, he still insists that people wear face masks as a measure to keep infection rates low.

He said that people who have been vaccinated should not worry if the vaccination was done not very recently because there are memory cells that help the immune system to produce appropriate antibodies when there is an infection.
