Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Cajes-Yap led the switching on of lights on the streets along the coastal road of barangays Ubujan and Taloto leading to Penaflor Street during simple ceremonies held recently.

The City of Tagbilaran continues to install new street lights aimed at improving visibility and safety for both residents and visitors.

The modern and energy efficient street lights generate brighter and longer lasting lights.

Mayor Yap was joined by Chief of Staff John Geesnell L. Yap II, OIC City Engineer Teodoro Estoque and Engr. Felito Francisco, Head of the Electrical Division of the City Engineer’s Office in the switching on ceremony.

The brighter streets are expected to add road safety to pedestrians, commuters and drivers, particularly in areas with heavy transportation and foot traffic.

Moreover, Mayor Yap is optimistic that with brighter streets, there will be a decline, if not total eradication, of criminal elements in society.

LGU Tagbilaran has been strong and fast on its feet with its ongoing street lighting project in the City – a project that is sourced from the twenty percent Development Fund.
