Balilihan, Bohol – A tragic accident occurred yesterday morning in Brgy. Cogon, Balilihan when a young boy died after being hit in the head by a rip-rap.
The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Gean Leparto, a grade 8 student from Sitio Manlawe in Brgy. Cogon.
According to reports from the Balilihan police station, Leparto had gone to the stream to help his mother wash clothes.
However, while at the stream, a branch suddenly fell.
Leparto quickly ran away but was hit in the back and lost his balance. He then hit his head on a rip-rap.
Dr. Violo Lorente, Municipal Health Officer, pronounced Leparto dead on arrival due to severe head injuries.
The community is mourning the loss of this young boy who was simply trying to help his mother, the health officer said.
