The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 (DSWD-7) has registered a total of 75,446 new beneficiaries under set 12 of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) after a rigorous process that began last February 2023.
The Province of Cebu has the most new beneficiaries with 33,859 (44.87%), followed by Negros Oriental with 26,742 (35.44%), Bohol with 14,083 (18.66%), and Siquijor with 762 (1%).
There are now 315,505 households in the Central Visayas region benefiting from the 4Ps program.
The new beneficiaries will be presented during the initiation and ceremonial oath of commitment, where each local government unit will take the lead in welcoming them to the program.
The first 4Ps ceremonial oath of commitment was held on April 25, 2023 in Argao, Cebu where 618 new beneficiaries were accepted. It was followed by Loay in Bohol on April 28, 2023 with 176 new beneficiaries.
DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero attended the event in Loay and led the oath of commitment for the newly registered beneficiaries. She encouraged them to use the cash grant wisely and to persevere towards self-sufficiency.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is a human development measure of the national government of the Philippines that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children aged 0-18. It is patterned after the conditional cash transfer (CCT) schemes in Latin American and African countries, which have lifted millions of people around the world from poverty.
The program is implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and is part of the national poverty reduction strategy as stated under Republic Act No. 11310 or “An Act institutionalizing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)” which was signed on April 17, 2019.
