CLEC, Danajon Bank Management Council Tackle Environmental Issues in Joint Meeting

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – Newly-elected Coastal Law Enforcement Council (CLEC) members and the Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef MPA Management Council on May 09 took oath at the Ceremonial Hall, New Capitol Building in Tagbilaran City.

The event was a joint gathering with the Board Meeting of the Provincial Ecological Solid Waste Management (PESWM) to address the intersecting problems of water pollution and lack of proper waste disposal in Bohol.

Organized by the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office and presided by Governor Aris Aumentado, the gathering was aimed to strengthen LGU’s environmental ordinances on waste management methods and marine protection and reintroduce CLEC to the Boholano public’s general consciousness.

At least 230 attendees, including various municipal mayors, representatives, municipal environmental officers, law enforcers, and invited media partners gathered at the event.

The event was also in observance of the Month of the Ocean, held in May every year in the Philippines.

As part of the Strategic Change and Development Agenda, Aumentado hopes to create more sound environmental projects that could preserve Bohol’s natural resources. The looming threat of climate change remains a concern for the Province’s flora and fauna.
