The Bohol Tourism Office (BTO) met with tourist transport service providers on Monday, June 4, 2023, to discuss concerns on tourist land transport and to gather suggestions to improve the services of the sector.
The meeting was called by BTO Head Jo Cabbarus, under the directive of Governor Aris Aumentado.
Cabbarus said that the meeting was in preparation for an upcoming transport forum with national line agencies: the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Attending the meeting were representatives from various transport groups, including jeepney drivers, tricycle drivers, and tour operators.
The groups raised a number of concerns, including the need for more affordable and reliable transportation options, the need for better road conditions, and the need for more tourist-friendly regulations.
Cabbarus said that the BTO would take the concerns raised by the transport groups into consideration and would work with the national line agencies to address them.
She said that the goal of the BTO is to ensure that tourists have a safe and enjoyable experience in Bohol.
The transport forum is scheduled to be held on June 15, 2023. The forum will be an opportunity for the BTO, the national line agencies, and the transport groups to discuss the concerns raised at the recent meeting and to develop a plan to address them.
The BTO is committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Bohol remains a premier tourist destination.
