Boholano Cadet Tops Class 2023 of thePhilippine Merchant Marine Academy

A Boholano cadet has topped the Class 2023 of the
Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in
Zambales.
Allan Jay B. Jumamoy, a 22-year-old native of San Isidro,
Tagbilaran City, Bohol, graduated summa cum laude with
a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation degree.
He finished with a weighted average of 96.38%.
Jumamoy is the first Boholano to top the PMMA entrance
examination since it was established in 1948. He is also
the first Boholano to graduate summa cum laude from the
academy.
“I am very happy and proud to have topped the PMMA
entrance examination and to have graduated summa cum
laude,” said Jumamoy. “I would like to thank my parents,
my teachers, and my fellow cadets for their support.”

Jumamoy plans to pursue a career as a marine officer
after graduating from the PMMA. He said he wants to help
the Philippine maritime industry grow and contribute to the
country’s economy.
“I am confident that I can make a difference in the
maritime industry,” said Jumamoy. “I am excited to start
my career as a marine officer and to help the Philippines
become a major maritime power.”
The PMMA is the premier maritime training institution in
the Philippines. It offers baccalaureate degrees in Marine
Transportation and Marine Engineering. The academy’s
graduates are in high demand by shipping companies
around the world.
