Tagbilaran City Takes Home Top Prizes in Sandugo Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown

Tagbilaran City was hailed as the champion of the 2023 Sandugo sa Bohol Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown Competition, which was held at the CPG Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

The city’s contingent, Tribu Tagbilaranon, won the top prize along with the Best in Street Dancing, Best in Musicality, and Best in Costume awards.

Banay Loaynon of Loay came in second place, while Tribu Carmenanon of Carmen finished third.

The competition, which was organized by the Provincial Government of Bohol, featured 10 contingents from different municipalities in the province.

The participants showcased their skills in street dancing and ritual performances, which depicted the rich culture and history of Bohol.

The event was attended by thousands of spectators, who cheered on their favorite contingents.

The winners of the competition were awarded cash prizes and trophies.

The Provincial Government of Bohol congratulated all the participants for their outstanding performances.

“We are proud of the talent and creativity of our Boholanos,” said Governor Aris Aumentado. “The Sandugo Festival is a celebration of our rich culture and history, and we are glad that we were able to bring this event back to life after a three-year hiatus.”

The Sandugo Festival is a historical reenactment of the blood compact between Datu Sikatuna of Bohol and Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1565.

The festival is celebrated every year in July to commemorate this historic event.

The 2023 Sandugo Festival was a success, and it is sure to be an even bigger event next year, Aumentado said.
