Bohol First District Rep. Edgar M. Chatto was one of the select speakers at the Forum on Enhancing Our Blue Footprint for Philippine Biodiversity Conservation, organized by the Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF) on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary Celebration of “Shore It Up.”

The forum was held at the Westin Hotel Manila on July 28, 2023. Chatto thanked MPIC President and Chief Executive Officer Manuel V. Pangilinan for the honor and privilege of being invited to speak at the conference.

Other speakers included Senator Cynthia Villar, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Toni Loyzaga, and Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Shereen Pamintuan.

Also in attendance were University of the Philippines (UP) President Danilo Concepcion, UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Vistan II, UP Marine Science Institute (MSI) Director Laura David, MPIF President Melody del Rosario, MPIC Executive Vice President Chaye Revilla, Atty. Mike Toledo, and other public and private sector partners.

Chatto delivered an insightful and engaging presentation on “Multi-Actor Partnership (MAP) on the Enhancement of Climate and Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (CDRFI).”

He highlighted the importance of MAPs in addressing the challenges of climate change and disaster risk, and discussed how they can be used to enhance CDRFI.

The forum was a valuable opportunity for stakeholders from the public and private sectors to come together and discuss how to better protect Philippine biodiversity.

Chatto’s presentation was well-received by the audience, and he was praised for his insights and expertise.

The forum was concluded with an open forum, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues raised. It was a productive and informative event, and it helped to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity conservation in the Philippines.
