IBP-BOHOL CHAPTER HOSTS THE GOLDEN BALL TO CELEBRATE ITS 50 TH ANNIVERSARY
The 26 th Board of Officers and Directors of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Bohol Chapter
(IBP-Bohol) hosted the Golden Ball: IBP-Bohol’s Golden (50 th ) Anniversary Celebration and Honoring
Night last Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Fortridge Pavilion, Brgy. Songculan, Dauis, Bohol. With a
theme, “IBP-Bohol @ 50: Golden Years, Golden Opportunity to Serve the Bar, the Bench and the
Community”, the Chapter looked back at its glorious past and honored the pillars who contributed to its
foundation and growth over the years.
Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez represented Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and delivered
the latter’s Keynote Speech. Also honored during the event were newly minted lawyers and newly
appointed Public Attorneys of the Public Attorney’s Office, namely: Atty. Vic Raymond Cagaanan, Atty.
Ralf Renz Rapirap, Atty. Bless Marian Bautista, Atty. Rafael Gubalane, Atty. John Lief Garret Sumalpong
and Atty. Christine Barrete. The Chapter also honored its Past Presidents led by one of the only two (2)
surviving Charter Officers, Atty. Urbano H. Lagunay.
Also given recognition were Boholano Past National IBP Officials namely, Atty. Agustinus
Gonzaga, former Governor for Eastern Visayas and Director of the Commission on Bar Discipline; Atty.
Roland Inting, former Governor for Eastern Visayas and National Secretary; and Atty. Elmar Galacio,
former Deputy General Counsel. Judge Jorge Espinal of the Regional Trial Court of Carmen was also
given a Special Award for his achievement during the National Judgment Day as one of the top twenty
(20) judges who disposed the most number of cases. Finally, Lifetime Achievement Awards were
conferred to Retired Assistant Solicitor General Herman Cimafranca, Retired Assistant Solicitor General
Raul Mandin and Retired Court of Appeals Justice Gabriel Ingles.
IBP National Officials, namely: Atty. Antonio C. Pido, National President; Atty. Burt M. Estrada,
Immediate Past National President; Atty. Doroteo Lorenzo B. Aguila, National Secretary; and Atty. Marlo
V. Destura, Governor for Eastern Visayas, graced the occasion. The crowd was entertained and
serenaded by the Loboc Children’s Choir who also sang the Invocation, National Anthem, and Awit sa
Bohol.
