In recognition of its commitment to promoting nutrition and public health, Tagbilaran City
has been awarded the prestigious Green Banner Seal of Compliance by the National
Nutrition Council (NNC) and Central Visayas Nutrition Committee.
The awarding ceremony took place on August 11, 2023 during the 18th Regional
Congress of the Nutrition Action Officers held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

The prestigious award was received by Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, City Health
Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, and City Nutrition Program Coordinator Rey Delos Santos, who
were all instrumental in the city’s successful nutrition and health initiatives.
Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude for the honor bestowed upon the city, saying,
“Receiving the Green Banner Seal of Compliance is a testament to our relentless efforts
in prioritizing the health and well-being of our constituents. We recognize the efforts of
the city and barangay nutrition committees, nutrition action officers and barangay
nutrition scholars for actively advocating for proper nutrition in Tagbilaran City.”
In the same event, Tagbilaran’s Mychelle Pullida of barangay Dao was recognized as
one of the 2022 City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar awardees in Central
Visayas.
The Green Banner Seal of Compliance is given by the NNC to local government units
(LGUs) with programs and policies that have shown a significant impact on the local
nutrition situation of the community.
An LGU may be given the Seal by posting an overall accomplishment of at least 85 per
cent on specific nutrition parameters during the annual Monitoring and Evaluation of
Local Level Plan Implementation.
The city’s comprehensive nutrition program, spearheaded by the Tagbilaran City
Nutrition Committee, has played a vital role in achieving this prestigious recognition.
Through various initiatives, such as nutrition education, feeding programs, and
community outreach, the city has made significant strides in improving the nutritional
status of its residents.
