IBP-BOHOL CELEBRATES LAW MONTH

On 22 September 2004, then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation No. 713
declaring September of every year as Rule of Law Month. In its prefatory clauses, it is provided that the
“Constitution ordains a society where the rule of law and justice prevails” and the “rule of law ensures
the orderly enjoyment by all persons of their rights and freedoms and secures the attainment of
national development, economic progress, and political stability”. With such declaration, Proclamation
No. 713 directs the Department of Education to implement programs and activities in the observance
thereof.
IBP-Bohol Chapter will celebrate this year’s Law Month with both fun-filled and meaningful
activities. On 16 September 2023, there will be a Tennis Tournament sponsored by the Chapter in
partnership with Du Ek Sam, Inc. and Trabajo-Lim Law Offices to be held at Capitol Tennis Club at the
Old Provincial Capitol from 3:00 p.m. onwards. The Champion will be awarded a cash prize of
Php5,000.00 with a trophy while the Runner-up will receive a cash prize of Php3,000.00 with a trophy.
Past President Atty. John Mitchel Boiser is the Tournament Director. On the same day, a Basketball
Exhibition Game will be held at Bohol Island State University (BISU) Covered Court from 4:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. between IBP-Bohol Basketball Team and the Hall of Justice Employees Association (HOJEA)
Basketball Team.
On 23 September 2023, there will be a Legal Aid Outreach in partnership with Santa Cruz Parish
of Catungawan Sur, Guindulman, Bohol and Public Attorney’s Office (PAO)-Talibon District. Atty. John
Jeric S. Lim, IBP-Bohol Vice President and Chairperson of the Legal Aid Committee is the point person of
the Legal Aid Outreach. On 29 September 2023, there will be a Quiz Night to be held at Café Racer,
Dauis, Bohol from 6:00 p.m. onwards. Dubbed as Lawbreakers’ Night, it will be hosted by Prosecutor
Adolfo M. Doroy. On a winner-take-all basis, the Quiz Night Champion will take home the prize of
Php10,000.00 and a trophy. To promote camaraderie, every team (a team of 5) should be composed of
both lawyers and law students from HNU College of Law, UB College of Law and BIT College of Law. The
registration for the Quiz Night is Php300.00 per person with food and drinks. IBP-Bohol Directors Attys.
Thea Ivory Parras and Zeah Zamora will take charge of the Quiz Night.
On 30 September 2023, there will be Filipino games and activities to be jointly hosted by HOJEA
and IBP-Bohol Chapter to be dubbed as the Law Day. It will be held at Galleria Luisa in the morning up to
lunch. These weekends of activities will surely remind the legal community and society in general that
the freedom and liberties we enjoy and cherish is because of the primacy of the Rule of Law.
