The City Government of Tagbilaran, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap, took part
in the 38th International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) day, demonstrating its commitment to
environmental preservation and community engagement.
The coastal cleanup activity, held on September 16, 2023, saw Mayor Yap personally
leading the activity along the K of C promenade in barangay Poblacion II.
Together with her were employees of the different departments and offices of the City
Government of Tagbilaran who enthusiastically participated with similar efforts across
various coastal sites throughout Tagbilaran.
Mayor Yap emphasized the significance of this annual event, saying, “The City of
Tagbilaran remains committed to environmental conservation. The International Coastal
Cleanup day allows us to contribute to a cleaner environment, not just for ourselves, but
also for future generations. We all play a role in safeguarding our coastal areas and
preserving the natural beauty of Tagbilaran.”
The participation in the ICC Day aligns with the principles set forth in Presidential
Proclamation No. 470, Series of 2003, which designates the third Saturday of
September each year as a time to unite globally for the cause of coastal cleanup.
This concerted effort by the City Government of Tagbilaran is a testament to its
dedication to environmental stewardship, embodying the spirit of unity and responsibility
for the benefit of the community and the environment as a whole.
