This edition of VOX POPULI is featuring the netizens’
reactions, responses and comments to a question posted on
the FB page of the Managing Editor of “The Bohol Tribune”.
The question is:
Survey ta. Unsay inyong tan-aw nga mosulod na man gyud
ang SM dinhi sa Bohol?
The answers are:
 from Peewee Agoncillo: Labing maau, dapat lng gyud.
 from Jesseca Araneta-Espejo Noroño: Murag daghan na
siguro maka sulod ug trabaho ani!
 from Frans Garcia: Maam, make sure our farmers and local
businesses are secured. Okay ra man ang SM pero mas
maayo na priority ang local.
 from Ayen Ocampo: Samot traffic but really tita hinaot
daghan matagaan ug trabaho.
 from Arthur Bagcat: Nindot nga dunay competition sa
market in terms of malls aron pod mo barato ang mga
 from Margie Jabines: Nindot KY mka create og trabaho.
 from Bobsie Rubillar Uy: It could mean JOBS for
Boholanos is one of the positive sides but grabeng traffic
should be expected and hopefully addressed before it
comes.
 from Fe Marfe Jimenez: Dunay both advantages &
disadvantages.

 from Jennifer Fronteras – Tumarao: More opportunity sa
tanan bol.anon mam ards..den fair and right wage fee.
 from Issai Danao: Mas dapat malarma ang mga old
establishments dre Kay if taas ang pasweldo sa SM, for sure
daghan mamalhin so dapat karon palang mag wage
 from Whelan Estrosos Bacole: NO.1 IS MODAGHAN ANG
JOB OPPURTUNITY IF NAA NAY SM DHA SA BOHOL.
 from Mary Ann Garcia Palgan: Daghan job opportunities,
more traffic, pero with regards sa presyo sa commodities
murag dili kaayo mkatabang paubos ky mahal mn ang SM
 from Aurelio Salgados Jr.: The presence of SM in Bohol is
a good opportunity for job creation and economic growth of
the province. But somehow are we prepared for the traffic
congestion, energy sufficiency, water support, lack of skills,
flooding and the absorption of local farmers and fishers
products into the value chain of SM which is good advantage
to the province? Majority of workers should come from the
province and not from other provinces. Is SM advocating
sustainable development, green building initiatives? TY.
 from Crisaldo Felisilda Estoque Jr.: Chada gud aron
daghan tag kapilian. hehe

 from Erwin Baquial: Well and good, pero there will be a hell
of a headache as regards vehicular traffic sa giingon nga site
kun madayon.
 from Rain FostanesCalimbayan: I just hope traffic and
raba ilang qualification ” College Graduate ” unya cashier ra
ang position.
 from Ferdinand Villanueva: Maau na maam ards,,,Aron

 from Bai Madrinan: We’ve Got it all for you….Happy to
Serve!!!! Pasulda sad Ayala Mall, Robinson, Gaisano ug
Vista Mall…yeheyyyy.
 from Silvana Sayon: Ok ra pod.
 from Ma Consuelo Loquellano Clarete: WOW! More job
opportunities! Pero naa pa kahay mamalit? Aw..mo down jud
tali ang ubang malls..
 from Ray Lomantas: Maayo kung maka sulod aron dunay
kalambo-an ug kapili-an sa mamalitay . . .
 from Rex Romani Tocmo: Maau cya peru secure una ang
expected traffic ug basura mam.
 from Jru Familiar: Love it!
 from Mel Malicse Micutuan: Wow that’s good!

shoppingan – wa may kwarta i shopping friend he he.
 from Arvin Manigque: Mau kau maam, ma undang nani
Nanay
competition. Maam.
 from Catalina Cabahug: Good, kon may kompitensya, may
kaayuhang mahatag sa mga konsumidor.
 from Josefa Delia Aranas: OKs n OKs kaayo Mam Ards.
 from Rudy L. Inting: Bohol is controlled but by few people.
That’s monopoly. Competition benefits the consumer. Now if
they could step up the ante, they could prioritize to distribute
products produced and manufactured in Bohol. That will help
the bottom line.
 from Ma Dolores Bahan Galendez-Dahan: Well & Good ok
mn… but make sure nga ang traffic, basura, etc mao jod nay
di ma apektohan… & most of all ang mga local farmers…. sa

let us more focus sa atong mga local farmers….
 from Herbertlorenzo Monton: Maayo
 from Jeanine Valerie Orig Borromeo: Good opportunity for
those Boholano’s to have work. Hoping for a low price of
goods
 from Helen Lopez Vallente: Maayo hinoon maam daghan
nasad maka trabaho. AG MGA WAY KWARTA PAHANGIN
LANG SA SULOD.
 from Zita Tumampos Viscayda: Good kaau
 from Susan Reyes Mapanio: Maayo kaayo aron tagam ng
mga gapatuyang sa presyo Mam Ards…
 from Ytteb Yu: Ok ra Aron dghn mkwork.

 from Esmeralda Parras: There is no perfect feasibility
studies when it comes to economic approach, the pro’s &
con’s are always in its door knocking, expect it!
 But for sure economic progress will come along the way.
 from Gerry Bolotaolo: Samot ka traffic ang wisdom hehe.
 from Bert Butron Jaspe: Pabor ko kaayo
 from Rhine Pamaong: Kinahanglan nga na-ay choices ang
mga customers kung asa sila magshopping kay with the
present order of things tungod kay wala’y alternative choices
mapugos ta ug pila specially sa grocery check out counter
for more than half an hour. Business is only good for the
existing establishments but inconvenient for the customers.

 from Naty Arong: Labing maajo ug naa ang sm.
 from Dodong Melisimo: Very much welcome ang pagsulod
sa SM sa Bohol maam Ards. It is good for us. But the city or
province must address the expected heavy traffic once SM
will operate.

 from Samuel H. Cilocilo: Most probably SM Save more!
 from Broker Chuck Saniel:
The potential benefits of a large retail operation like SM
opening in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, would depend on various
factors, including the local economy, job opportunities, and

consumer preferences. Here are some potential benefits and
considerations:
Job Creation: SM opening a store in Tagbilaran City could
create job opportunities for local residents, including
positions in retail, management, and support roles.
Increased Shopping Options: It would provide residents with
more shopping options, potentially reducing the need to
travel to other cities for retail needs.
Boost to Local Economy: The presence of a major retailer
could stimulate economic activity by attracting more
shoppers and potentially increasing tourism if SM becomes a
regional shopping destination.
Infrastructure Development: SM’s entry might encourage
infrastructure development in the area, such as road
improvements and public transportation upgrades.
Competition: Increased competition could lead to lower
prices and better deals for consumers. However, it could
also impact local businesses that may struggle to compete
with a large retailer.
Community Impact: There could be both positive and
negative social and cultural impacts on the community,
depending on how the development is managed and
integrated into the local environment.
It’s important to note that the specific impacts of SM opening
a store in Tagbilaran City would depend on the size of the
store, the local market conditions, and how the development
is managed in terms of environmental and social
considerations. Public opinion, local government regulations,
and community involvement would also play a significant
role in determining the overall effect. Conducting thorough
economic and environmental impact assessments would be
crucial before such a development takes place.
 from Romulo Comiso: I’m so proud SM is here in BOHOL
coz it create more jobs by our fellows Boholano and
Boholana,more big economy wise.
 from R Myra A Cook: It will be shop till we drop.
progressive na jud diay ta, congrats to all of us.
 from Carlito Orig: Tingale Daghan ultimo nga tawo ma
