The Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus (PSHS-CVisC) in Argao, Cebu has organized various activities to celebrate the Regional Science and Technology Week from September 25 to 29, 2023.

The event aims to showcase the achievements and innovations of the students and faculty in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Among the activities are a research forum, a poster and student exhibits, and a Regional Sci-Math Battle 2023 Finale. The research forum features the presentations of the best research papers from the different departments of PSHS-CVisC.

The poster and student exhibits display the creative and scientific projects of the students in different categories such as robotics, biotechnology, environmental science, and more. The Regional Sci-Math Battle 2023 Finale is a competition among the top students from different schools in the region who have qualified in the preliminary rounds.

Bohol Rep. Edgar Chatto, who is a math and sciences enthusiast and a supporter of education, was invited as a guest speaker for the event. However, he was unable to attend due to his commitments in Manila for the budget plenary. He sent his Chief of Staff Atty. Abel Damalerio on his behalf to deliver his message.

In his statement, Chatto expressed his gratitude to Dr. Rachel Luz Rica, the campus director of PSHS-CVisC, for the invitation. He also congratulated the students who are taking part in the activities and encouraged them to pursue their passion for STEM.

Chatto said that he believes in science-based decision making towards national development and that he will continue to support the programs and initiatives of PSHS-CVisC.

The Regional Science and Technology Week is an annual event that aims to promote awareness and appreciation of science and technology among the public, especially among the youth. It also serves as a platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas among the stakeholders in the STEM sector.
