The municipality of Batuan in Bohol province is celebrating its 120th founding
anniversary on October 31, 2023 with the theme “Kakugi ang Hiyas sa Mauswagong
Batuan” (Strengthening the Jewel of a Prosperous Batuan).
The town has prepared a series of activities to mark the occasion, which started last
October 27 and will end on October 31.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the agri-food fair, which showcases the
products of local farmers and food entrepreneurs.
The fair is open daily at the Municipal Plaza, where visitors can buy fresh fruits,
vegetables, rice, meat, fish, and other delicacies.
A live band also entertains the guests and visitors every night, except on October 29.

Another major activity is the drug testing for all candidates for barangay and SK
elections and their family members.
The drug testing is part of the town’s anti-illegal drug campaign and is mandated by
the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC).
The candidates are required to submit to a drug testing procedure before they can
file their certificates of candidacy.
The drug testing aims to ensure that the barangay and SK officials are free from any
substance abuse and can serve as role models for their constituents.
Other activities include tree planting, animal clinic, seeds and seedlings distribution,
mass wedding, turn over ceremony of barangay roads in Cabacnitan, Aloja, Rizal
and Janlud, parade and games.
A motocross event will also be held on October 31 as part of the closing ceremony.
Mayor Atty. Dodo Jumawid and Vice Mayor Zing Bulalaque led the opening of the
celebration last October 27.
They were joined by MPDC Eliseo Sumampong, who is the overall activity
coordinator, as well as the SB members and department heads.
Batuan town officials have invited everyone to join them in celebrating the founding
anniversary of Batuan and to support the local products and talents.
LGU Batuan also thanked the sponsors and partners who helped make the
celebration possible.
Batuan is a fourth-class municipality in Bohol province with a population of about
