The Department of Agriculture Field Office 7 (DA-RFO7), under the Rice Program,
allocated resources for a 4-day training program focused on Agri-based Livelihood for
the Rice Farmers in Jagna, Bohol. The training took place from Oct. 24t to Oct. 27,
2023, at Hotel Eight Fifty in Ipil, Jagna, Bohol. This initiative primarily targeted the
beneficiaries of the Rice Post Harvest Facility (RPHF), with the goal of enhancing their
knowledge and capabilities in various aspects of the rice industry. The participants in
the training were the farmer leaders of the Irrigator/Farmer Associations, including the

President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Municipal Administrator, Ms. Teresa Gina S.
Ranan, graced the occasion with her presence and offered support on behalf of
Municipal Mayor Joseph Rañola (inset, upper left corner). The training was led by Ms.
Cecile A. Opada, a Science Research Specialist II. Engr. Jose Paolo Acero also
attended the training and explained the significance of creating an operational manual
for managing the Rice Post Harvest Facility. He conducted a site visit with the farmers
on the second day of the training in Alejawan, Jagna, where the Rice Post Harvest
Facility is located. He provided an explanation on how to use the grain dryer and the
rice miller. Councilor Rodrigo Lloren, a member of the committee on agriculture, was
also in attendance. On the last day of the training, Mr. Roman Dabalos, APCO Bohol,
paid the group participants a visit and delivered a message to them to show his support
for the entire training. The Agri-based Livelihood training for Rice Farmers in Jagna,
organized by the Department of Agriculture Field Office 7, was a significant initiative
aimed at enhancing the capabilities and livelihoods of rice farmers in the area. The
training covered a wide range of topics, from operational procedures to long-term
planning. The outcomes of this training, including the Operational Manual and the Jagna
Rice Modernization and Industrialization Plan, are expected to contribute to the
sustainable development and growth of the rice industry in Jagna, ultimately benefiting
