Tagbilaran City ushered in the holiday season with the grand opening of its
enchanting Christmas lights display dubbed as “Pasko sa Tagbilaran,” at the City
Hall grounds on December 1, 2023.
This annual tradition, led by Mayor Jane Yap, Vice Mayor Adam Jala, Chief of Staff
John Geesnell Yap II, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and department
heads, aims to spread festive cheer and create a vibrant atmosphere for residents
and visitors.
Tagbilaran Bishop Abet Uy, Provincial Administrator Aster Caberte, Erico Aristotle
Aumentado, Vice Governor Board Secretary Dionisio Joseph Balite, Congressman
Edgar Chatto and Provincial Board Members Vezencio Arcamo, Aldner Damalerio
and Lucille Lagunay also graced the affair.
The event started with the blessing of the site presenting the nativity scene as well
as the advent wreath. This was done by Rev. Fr. Efren Bongay, Parish Priest of the
St. Joseph Cathedral Shrine Parish.
There were also musical performances from the Koro Seraphim and the Loboc
Ambassador Band.

The city’s iconic musical dancing fountain added to the spectacle, captivating
audiences with its harmonious play of lights and water.
Tagbilaran’s main roads are also now adorned with colorful lanterns, illuminating the
entire city.
Mayor Jane Yap expressed her enthusiasm for the community coming together to
celebrate the season, saying, “Pasko sa Tagbilaran is not just about decorations. It’s
about creating memories, fostering unity, and sharing the joy of the holidays. We
invite everyone to join us in this festive celebration.”
As part of the celebration, all departments and offices of the City Government joined
a Christmas decoration contest under the theme “Christmas Around the World”
showcasing the diverse and enchanting ways in which various countries celebrate
the joyous season of Christmas.
The Tagbilaran City Hall is open to the public to witness the creative displays and
participate in the joyous festivities.
A free children’s entertainment program is scheduled every Friday and Saturday at
7:00 PM throughout December, excluding the weekend before New Year’s.
Coinciding with the festivities is the launching of the “Pasko sa Tagbilaran”
Christmas Bazaar. Aside from food items and hot meals, the bazaar features
upcycled products from the Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Community Development
Unit, providing a platform for local artisans.
