Three resorts in Bohol have been recognized for their outstanding environmental
practices and achievements by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Amarela Resort, Amorita Resort, and Bellevue Resort received the ASEAN Hall of
Fame Award for Green Hotel at a ceremony held on Nov. 27, 2023 at the 5-star
Discovery Primea Hotel in Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
This prestigious award is given to hotels and resorts which have previously won the
ASEAN Green Hotel Award three times. It recognizes the resort/hotel’s commitment
to being environmentally friendly and for having adopted energy conservation
measures.

The ASEAN Green Hotel Standard is based on 11 criteria: environmental policies,
use of green products; collaboration with the community and local organizations;
human resource development; solid waste management; energy efficiency; water
efficiency; air quality management, noise pollution control, waste water treatment
management and chemical substance disposal management.
The three Bohol resorts are among the 10 Philippine hotels and resorts that received
the ASEAN Hall of Fame Award for Green Hotel this year.
The other recipients are: Baguio Country Club, Baguio City; Daluyon Beach and
Mountain Resort, Puerto Princesa City; El Nido Resorts – Apulit Island, Taytay,
Palawan; El Nido Resorts – Lagen Island, El Nido, Palawan; El Nido Resorts –
Miniloc Island, El Nido, Palawan; El Nido Resorts – Pangulasian Island, El Nido,
Palawan; and The Manor at Camp John Hay, Baguio City.
The Bohol Provincial Tourism Office said this distinction boosts Bohol’s efforts to be
a sustainable tourism destination and enhances Bohol’s image as the Philippines
first and only UNESCO Global Geopark.
Bohol is known for its natural and cultural attractions, such as the Chocolate Hills,
the Loboc River, the Tarsier Sanctuary, the Panglao Island, the Baclayon Church,
and the Sandugo Shrine.
The ASEAN Hall of Fame Award for Green Hotel is part of the ASEAN Tourism
Standards Awards, which aim to promote and enhance the quality and standards of
tourism services and facilities in the region. The awards also include the ASEAN
Clean Tourist City Award, the ASEAN MICE Venue Award, the ASEAN Sustainable
Tourism Award, and the ASEAN Community Based Tourism Award.
