CHRISTMAS IN OUR HEARTS

The lyrics of a popular Christmas song reverberate this
holiday season to remind us of the significance of the
Christmas spirit, we should treasure  within us.
Christmas is a tme of gift-giving and sharing, a time to
celebrate our selflessness. While not necessarily limited to
material things that we can share, it is equally important that
we lend our time and company to people closest to us.
Christmas is a joyful season for family celebrations and get-
togethers. It is the time of year when we can offer more than
at any other, solace for the sick and lonely, food for the
hungry and comfort to those in need.  All told, Christmas is a
time for doing all things good.
The very essence of Christmas is something we should
aspire and imbibe every day for it brings peace and harmony
among men. Yet, despite this awareness, conflicts arise and
we never cease to fight one another.
The ravaging war in Ukraine, the ongoing conflict in Gaza
and other flashpoints around the globe are but testaments to
our folly and imperfection. Our weaknesses sometimes bring
out the worst in us and we seem helpless to counter it.
To us who are lucky to enjoy the season in festive celebration
away from the brutality of war, we have plenty to be thankful
for. We cannot thank the Lord enough for our blessings.
Yet we can only fervently hope and pray that those in the
frontlines and in the trenches remember the Christmas spirit

despite their struggles. Life is full of mysteries and we are no
strangers to death and suffering.
Despite all the wars throughout history and man’s dark side,
Christmas has never stopped. It has outlived others before
and will continue to be celebrated for future generations.
One cannot kill a “spirit” as it is not within our physical realm.
The “Christmas spirit” lives within us and we should cherish
it.
While this season some may mourn the passing of a dear
friend or family, their legacy lives on and their memories
treasured. Such is the spirit of Christmas that we should carry
within us.
Christmas is a legacy that must live on and be carried in our
hearts!
