A new building for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Bohol (BSP) Council is in the works, thanks to a P20 million budget allocation in the General Appropriations Act of 2024.

The project will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), as per the initiative of Bohol First District Rep. Edgar M. Chatto, who advocated for the funding priority to provide a better venue for scouting activities.

Chatto expressed his appreciation to Senator Loren Legarda for her support in securing the funds for the BSP building.

He said he was excited for this development that the Bohol BSP Council deserved, as it had been consistently hailed as one of the outstanding BSP councils in the country.

The Bohol BSP Council had organized the 75th BSP Bohol Jamboree and Langkay Playday last year, which drew 5,000 Boy Scouts to the Bohol Island State University (BISU) Balilihan Campus Grounds in Brgy. Magsija in Balilihan.

“Our commitment to strengthen the scouting movement remains with the support of our scouters and in partnership with the Department of Education, Local Government Units and the private sector,” Chatto said in a statement.

The first district representative also emphasized the importance of the scouting movement in fostering volunteerism, leadership, service, duty to God and country, and nation building.
