Panglao Island, Bohol: A bill that would establish a 200-bed medical center in Panglao Island has been filed by Bohol First District Rep. Edgar M. Chatto.

The Panglao Island Medical Center, as proposed by House Bill No. 9832, would be run by the Department of Health (DOH) and cater to the health needs of both locals and tourists.

Chatto, who filed the bill as the House of Representatives resumed its sessions, said the medical center would boost the healthcare infrastructure and services in the region, which is vital for its sustainable growth and prosperity.

He noted that the project is in line with the broader regional and national development goals of the DOH.

The lawmaker also revealed that he had been in talks with Panglao Mayor Boy Arcay, Vice Mayor Noel Hormachuelos, and DOH Regional Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas for the establishment of this health facilty.

“Health is a top priority and a strategic pillar for the development of Panglao and the province,” Chatto said.

He told The Bohol Tribune that he had inspected the proposed site for the medical center during the groundbreaking of the Panglao Super Health Center project.
