Golden hearted Hubahibs visit home

By Dave Suan Albarado

If there is one descriptive phrase fitting the Hubahibs, it would be a couple with a golden heart.

Lawyer Glen Hubahib and his nurse wife Flor Cepedoza-Hubahib are in town as they never forget to touch base very often. They have been living in the United States for more than a couple of decades with son, Ondoy Tom.

Ardent fans of the Open Forum program over dyTR, the Hubahibs appeared on the show on April 17, 2024, and renewed old ties with friends, even before they notified their family here about their arrival. Yes, “Open Forum” had them first on that day before anybody else.

As they have said, they wanted to surprise the family about their presence but the beans were spilled when they guested on the show hosted by the sisters Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Gloria Leodivica-Araneta.

The Hubahibs may be living thousands of miles away from the motherland–Bohol, yet they continue to lend a hand to people whenever and every time they could.

Glen would help Filipinos who need legal assistance in the U.S. He would often become the communication bridge of Filipinos who are in “trouble” in America.

Moreover, Flor is part of the Cepedoza family who would often conduct medical missions and other community outreach activities especially to the people of Danao town.

Flor is a member of the Cepedoza family brought up in an atmosphere of love and togetherness by Mrs. Flaviana Gonzaga-Cepedoza. The Cepedoza siblings love both their mother and their late father (Florentino) with a love that knows no bounds. Flaviana, their mother, is Mama Flavy to them and they describe her as a lady with a “perfect heart that is selfless, patient, kind, generous, compassionate and always loving”.

The family has been carrying on one of the legacies of the parents: the Florentino-FlavianaCepedoza Foundation (FFCF) aimed at giving back their love to the community through medical missions and other charitable activities.

The foundation, with Atty, Glen Hubahib as the legal luminary, is ably handled by the Cepedoza siblings who have proven success in their endeavors.

They are:

  • Benecio (Benie), the eldest. He graduated  from the Bachelor of Science in Commerce course major in Accounting. He is married to Zhen Vitor, a pharmacist and both are now residing at Danao, Bohol.
  • Then comes Jose (Joe), a BS in Civil Engineering & BS in Architecture graduate with a Masters degree in Public Administration. He was the unopposed mayoralty candidate of Danao and is now holding the position of Danao local chief executive. He is married to Azon Mamogay, a BS in Commerce graduate who is a businesswoman.
  • The 3rd sibling is Romulo fondly called Moloy or Molix. He is a Doctor of Dentistry, BS Law graduate and presently board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol. He is married to Luzvinia Orapa, also a Dentist.
  • Maria Fe Cepedoza-Enriquez (Fe) is the 4th sibling. She graduated from the BS Commerce course major in Accounting. She is married to Deo Enriquez, a policeman, who passed away in 1996. She stays in Danao now.
  • Another BSC graduate, major in Accounting comes next. She is Ma. Pedrita (Pedrit) Cepedoza-Vitor, the 5th in the family. She is married to Lirio Vitor, a BS in Electrical Engineering degree holder. Both Pedrita and Lirio are in the business industry and are also based in Danao.
  • The 6th sibling is one of the prettiest among the girls. She is Mariaflor (Inday Flor) Cepedoza-Hubahib who holds the diploma of a BS in Nursing graduate. She also has a Masters Degree in Nursing and she works as a Cath Lab RN in the U.S.A. She is married to an intelligent Boholano: Glen Hubahib, ESQ, BSEE, BS Law, MBA. He works as a lawyer in the U.S.A. Both are now residing at Hayward, California with their only son, Ondoy Tom.
  • Ma. Florita (Poyette) Cepedoza-Abad, the 7th  among the siblings, is another nurse–a BSN graduate. She works as Telemetry/ Med Surg RN. She is married to Gary Abad and both are residing abroad.
  • Filomena (Piloy) Cepedoza, the 8th, is a graduate of two courses: BS Physical Therapy & BS in Nursing. Aside from being a businesswoman, she is also the Office Manager of Dr. Bryan Cepedoza’s Medical Clinic located at the Tagbilaran Community
    Hospital.
  • The very popular Dr. Jesus Bryan (Bryan) Cepedoza is the 9th in the family. He is a medical doctor and one of the top pulmonologists in the country. Despite the fact that he topped medical examinations and has been doing good medical practice, he has remained humble in his traits and character. He is a favorite of many. He is a columnist of this paper, The Bohol Tribune, and presently, he is the President of the Philippine College of Physicians, Bohol Chapter. He is affiliated with several hospitals in the province but holds office at the Tagbilaran Community Hospital. He is married to a Nurse and Lawyer, the beautiful Atty. Mia LumapasCepedoza.
  • And the 10 th sibling is Dr. Florence “Junjun” Cepedoza. He is a successful oncologist and is married to Almeida “Apple” Duenas – BD in Medical Technology & Doctor of Medicine with specialization in OB-Gynecology.

Back to Glen and Inay Flor, distance has never been an issue to the Hubahibs when it comes to service to fellow Filipinos. Glen despite his lofty legal career in America, never forgot his roots as a simple Tagbilaranon, who wanted a comfortable life for his family and for any fellow Filipino in trouble.
