Mayor Jane Yap leads Tagbilaran City delegation to the CVIRAA Meet

City Mayor Jane Yap led the Tagbilaran City delegation during the opening ceremony of the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet on May 4, 2024, held at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City. 

The event marked the beginning of a prestigious athletic competition, bringing together participants from various cities, municipalities and provinces across Region 7.

The Tagbilaran City Division fielded a delegation consisting of 687 athletes, coaches, working committee members and technical officials from both public and private elementary and secondary schools in the city. 

Under the leadership of Mayor Yap and with the unwavering support of the City Schools Division, headed by Superintendent Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos, the City Government of Tagbilaran spared no effort in ensuring that the athletes were fully equipped and prepared for the rigorous competition ahead. 

Each athlete was provided with a comprehensive support package, including a cash allowance of P3,500, complete set of uniforms:  jackets, t-shirts, jogging pants, shoes and sun visor hats, playing uniforms, meals and snacks, medical and hygiene kit, energy drinks, bottled water, and sleeping supplies. 

This holistic support not only demonstrates the city’s commitment to nurturing and empowering its young athletes but also underscores the importance of providing them with the necessary resources to excel both, on and off the field.

Mayor Yap expressed her pride and confidence over the Tagbilaran City delegation, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and camaraderie in the pursuit of excellence. 

“The CVIRAA Meet serves as a platform for our athletes to showcase their talents and represent our city with pride,” Mayor Yap remarked. 

She continued by saying, “I am confident that they will compete with integrity, determination, and sportsmanship, bringing honor and glory to Tagbilaran City.”

As the CVIRAA Meet unfolds, the Tagbilaran City delegation stands poised to make its mark, embodying the spirit of athleticism, unity, and resilience. 

With the full support of the city government and the collective determination of its athletes, Tagbilaran City reaffirms its commitment to fostering a culture of sports excellence and youth development in the region.

City Government enhances timekeeping practices through Capacity Building Seminar

The City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a capacity-building seminar for timekeepers at Jj’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City on May 10, 2024.  

The seminar aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of timekeepers in effectively managing and documenting time-related matters within the city government offices.

The event commenced with a warm welcome message delivered by City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, setting the tone for an insightful and productive session ahead. 

Dr. Karina Mae Uy, Assistant Department Head of the City Human Resource Management and Development Office, provided the rationale behind the seminar, emphasizing the importance of accurate timekeeping in ensuring efficiency and productivity in government operations.

In her message, City Mayor Jane Yap underscored the importance of punctuality and accountability in public service. She emphasized that efficient timekeeping not only enhances productivity but also fosters transparency and trust among constituents. 

Mayor Yap also expressed her appreciation for the dedication of the city’s timekeepers and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their roles. 

Mr. Jeffrey Tungol took the stage to delve into the intricacies of timekeeping, shedding light on its fundamental principles, roles, and responsibilities of timekeepers, and its significance in maintaining organizational integrity and adherence to established protocols.

Participants gained valuable insights into best practices and strategies for effective time management in the workplace.

Following the informative session, a panel discussion ensued led by Joey Ciño, Carlos Gudes Jr., and Abegail Logroño addressed key topics such as standard operating procedures for government office hours, protocol for handling overtime services, guidelines for managing leave credits, and other relevant human resource matters.

The capacity-building seminar for timekeepers underscored the City Government of Tagbilaran’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in service delivery.
