On May 23, 2024, Danao Mayor Jose Cepedoza (inset, lower left corner) says that his town participated in the International Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Candlelight Memorial. This was held on the third Sunday of May (and this is held every year), which, according to the Mayor is a “time for all of us to remember the many lives lost to AIDS.” The mayor also said that the event was an opportunity to honour those who dedicated their lives to helping people living with and affected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and continue to mobilize our communities in solidarity. He continued by saying that “Our 2024 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial in Local Government Unit Danao will be happening tomorrow (May 24, 2024) at the Municipal Atrium, Municipal Hall-Danao, Bohol after the 3 o’clock Divine Mercy Devotional Prayer… This Year’s theme is: TOGETHER WE REMEMBER, TOGETHER WE HEAL, THROUGH LOVE AND SOLIDARITY!
