
Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Bohol Medical Society (BMS) recently marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of two major events: the 10th Post-Graduate Course and the 88th Induction and Awarding Ceremonies.
Held at the Metrocentre Hotel and Convention Center, the events brought together healthcare professionals from across the province for a day of learning, networking, and celebration.
- 10th Post-Graduate Course: “Advancing Preventive Care: Trends, Updates, and Practices for Enhanced Healthcare System in Bohol”
The 10th Post-Graduate Course, themed “Advancing Preventive Care: Trends, Updates, and Practices for Enhanced Healthcare System in Bohol,” was held on June 14th,2024 and featured a series of lectures and workshops aimed at enhancing the clinical skills and knowledge of Bohol’s medical practitioners. esteemed speakers from various medical specialties shared the latest advancements and best practices in their respective fields.
Dr. Carlo C. Gurrea, BMS President welcomed all participants, lecturers and exhibitors to the event. Before the start of the lecture series, an overview of the course was given by BMS Director Dr.Reuel Victor Francis C. Villaflor.
Participants praised the course for its comprehensive coverage of relevant medical topics and its practical approach to continuing medical education.
- 88th Induction and Awarding Ceremony: Honoring Excellence
In the evening, the BMS hosted its 88th Induction and Awarding Ceremonies, a prestigious event that celebrated the year that was and the welcoming of the new set of officers for the coming fiscal year. The ceremony was opened by BMS Secretary Dr Zandro Paolo M. Plateros. Dr Kazan Benigno S. Baluyot, PMA National Commissioner inducted the new set of officers, led by incoming President Dr. Joyce C. Castillo. In her inaugural address, Dr Castillo, emphasized the society’s commitment to fostering professional growth and collaboration among Bohol’s medical community.
The society also formally welcomed its new members.
One of the highlights of the evening was the awarding ceremony, which recognized outstanding physicians and healthcare workers for their exemplary service and dedication. Dr. Julita L. Cogo was honored with the Most Outstanding Physician award for her exceptional work and service to the community as well as the society as its former president.
The society was honored to have as its guest speaker Dr Sophia M. Mancao, Asst Regional Director (Region 7) of the Department of Health, who reiterated her support and willingness to work hand-in-hand with the local society for overall better healthcare in the province.
- A Night of Fellowship and Camaraderie
The evening concluded with a gala dinner, where members of the BMS enjoyed a night of fellowship and camaraderie. The celebration provided an opportunity for attendees to reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances, and reflect on the society’s achievements over the past year.
Dr. Maria April L. Froilan, BMS Vice-President expressed her gratitude to all who participated in the events in her closing remarks by ending the evening with a toast to the coming year ahead.
The Bohol Medical Society looks forward to another year of growth and success, with plans already underway for future educational programs and community outreach initiatives.
