From DreamWorks Animation comes an epic adventure about the journey of a robot shipwrecked on a remote island and must adapt to harsh surroundings to survive, “The Wild Robot” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.   

        Adapted from the bestselling 2016 novel of the same title by American author Peter Brown, “The Wild Robot” is about an all-purpose ROZZUM Unit 7134 robot nicknamed “Roz” (voice of Lupita Nyong’o) which wash up on an island uninhabited by humans. Activated by the local wildlife, Roz attempts to be friendly to the animals but only succeeds in terrifying them.  

       Roz’s only hope is to learn from the island’s hostile animal inhabitants. When she tries to care for an orphaned gosling (voice of Kit Connor) and serves  as the adoptive mother, the other animals finally decide to help, and the island starts to feel like home. Until one day, the robot’s mysterious past comes back to haunt her.

“THE WILD ROBOT” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

“Smile 2” at Screenville Cinemas

A sequel to the 2022 breakout horror hit about an evil curse that haunts a pop star, “Smile 2” will premiere on Wednesday, October 16, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.   

Pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott-“Aladdin”) begins to experience a series of increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events as she embarks on a world tour. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.

         The first film which collected $216 million globally on a $17 million budget centered on a psychiatrist who is tormented after witnessing a traumatic incident with a patient. Whoever witnesses someone else’s death at the hands of the entity becomes its next victim to be driven to suicide. 

       The film series chronicles an evil, unrelenting demon that drives its victims to suicide by appearing as a series of human beings with sinister smiles plastered across their faces.     

“SMILE 2” will premiere on Wednesday, October 16, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.   

A BIG SUCCESS

3,336 runners join Pink Run 2024 

A record-breaking 3,336 runners sprung into action in the Alturas Pink Run 2024 last Saturday, this city, including the sensational 75-year old 21k runner Tatay Quiruben Abella of Candelaria, Dagohoy; and reigning Miss Bohol 2024 Cayle Tejano Tentativa who finished 10k. 

A group or contingents of runners and different running clubs from other places outside Bohol also took part in the prestigious charity run whose aim is to raise awareness about breast cancer and at the same time generate funds for the patients and survivors.

          The participants were running in three different categories — 5k, 10k, and 21k, with route winding its way from the Island City Mall carpark as the starting line up to the boundary of Brgy. Taguihon and San Isidro, Baclayon which was the turning point for 21k runners.     

          The Alturas Group of Companies, through its Alay Marcela Foundation, expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, sponsors, race organizers, the different committees, media partners, and more, for the big success of the event.       

          In the “Pink Run” 2022, around 1,600 runners had joined the benefit run, with the gross proceeds of P200,000 donated to the 20 beneficiaries, mostly breast cancer patients, who received cash assistance worth P10,000 each. Last year, there were more than 2,600 runners with the gross proceeds of P336,000 donated to the 27 beneficiaries at P16,000 each.             

A part of the nationwide observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October, the Pink Run is the most prestigious charity run organized for the third time in a row by the Alturas Group of Companies.
