Bohol gubernatorial candidate Atty. Dan Neri Lim extolled mayoral candidate Atoy Torralba’s campaign tactics during his weekly radio broadcast on Wednesday, contrasting them with those of incumbent Mayor Jane Yap.
Lim, a former three-term mayor of Tagbilaran City, praised Torralba’s grassroots approach, particularly his house-to-house canvassing in Barangay Cogon, suggesting this could lead to a victory in the upcoming mayoral race.
“Torralba’s direct engagement with voters is a strategy that might just take him to city hall,” Lim commented.
He pointed out several reasons why Torralba could be a better choice than Yap, who is also his niece-in-law.
Lim criticized Yap’s administration, accusing it of mismanagement of city funds and failing to provide basic aid to constituents.
He also touched on a contentious issue involving a mayor’s permit granted to a resort owned by Yap’s in-laws, despite an allegedly expired lease on reclaimed land.
“If the incumbent isn’t careful, she might lose her grip on city hall,” Lim warned, referencing his own legal action against the administration last year for this permit issue.
In addition to local politics, Lim criticized the provincial government’s response to various issues, including the water supply at Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA).
Despite claims that the problem has been resolved, Lim questioned the financial arrangements for water delivery by Bohol Water Utilities Inc.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the handling of health crises like HIV and African Swine Fever (ASF) by the provincial authorities, suggesting a lack of effective management.
