A South Korean supernatural thriller about a Western rite of exorcism linked with ancient Eastern shamanism to bring out the most powerful demon, “Dark Nuns” is now showing at Screenville Cinema 4 of Island City Mall.
The film centers around the two nuns, Sister Junia and Sister Michaela, who are confronted with a young boy named Hee-joon, who has been possessed by a powerful evil spirit. Sister Junia, driven by her faith and compassion, takes it upon herself to save the boy, while Sister Michaela, initially skeptical, is drawn into the investigation.
As they delve deeper into the mystery, they encounter a series of chilling events and uncover a dark secret hidden within the walls of their convent. The nuns must confront their own fears and beliefs as they battle against the powerful evil that threatens Hee-joon’s life and the sanctity of their order.

The fourth installment of the Captain America film series serving as a sequel to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in 2014, “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016, and “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” in 2021, “Captain America: Brave New World” will premiere on February 12 at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected US President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.
Veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford of “Indiana Jones” fame is cast as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross aka Red Hulk who possesses superpowers consist of absorbing radiation from other people, which increases his strength and power to immeasurable levels. However, with great power comes limitations. Is he a hero or villain?

1,836 eyeglasses
In the “Eye Love You” Eye Care Program of the Alturas Group of Companies, conducted through its Alay Marcela Foundation, a total of 1,836 prescription eyeglasses were already given to all beneficiaries who underwent eye check-up last August, when Alturas reached out to the barangay folks who are suffering from poor eyesight.
In the second batch of distribution of free eyeglasses, six barangays were the recipients of the said donation last month: Brgy. Subayon, Bilar; January 20, 90 patients; Brgy. Rizal, Bilar; January 20, 93 patients; Brgy. Canhayupon, Dimiao; January 21, 101 patients; Brgy. Lapsaon, Dimiao; January 21, 66 patients; Brgy. Calabacita, Jagna; January 22, 169 patients; and Brgy. Balili, Jagna; January 23, 111 patients.
The distribution of free eyeglasses for the 1st batch were earlier conducted last December 16 – Lourdes, Cortes; December 17 – La Hacienda & Untaga, Alicia; December 18 – Gabi & Lomangog, Ubay; and December 20 – Catagbacan, Loon and San Isidro, Calape; with a total of 1,206 patients.
Conducted in partnership with Ideal Vision Center, the most trusted optical brand in the Philippines, “Eye Love You” highlights free eye check-up and provides reading eyeglasses to the prospect patients.
“Eye Love You” stems from “Oplan Sagip Mata”, a comprehensive eye care program of DOH launched by the late Senator and former Health Secretary Juan Flavier in 1993, which until now provides free operations and services to address the increasing rate of blindness in the country. It has already helped over 500,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
