Bohol Light is actively campaigning for consumers by creating an energy-saving mindset.
Sheryl Paga, Bohol Light’s spokesperson, said the company is actively campaigning for consumers to save energy especially during the dry season.
The dry season brings humid and scorching weather and it is best to shave off cost from the bill by saving on energy by using appliances at an optimum level and help bring down the cost of the monthly electric bill.
Paga said it is best to shut unused lights off and unplug appliances not actively being used, as this can help shave off some cost on the bill.
She suggested regularly washing the air conditioning filters to optimize the cooling effect and use less electricity when trying to cool a room using an air conditioning unit.
Moreover, she urged consumers to regularly clean electric fans and clear these appliances from gathering too much dust as the dust may lower the fan’s performance.
Furthermore, Paga said to replace defective light bulbs and to use light emitting diode (LED) lamps instead, as the latter is more energy-efficient.
Consumers should choose appliances that are known as inverter-type.
Paga suggested using an electric iron during cooler portions of the day, like at dawn or dusk.
Bohol Light regularly provides information and suggestions to lower energy use using social media, newspapers and radio programs.
Paga also reminded young people and their parents to avoid flying kites near power lines, as these actions could result in tripping off of the circuit and lead to power interruptions causing inconvenience.
