1st Tirol Swim Cup Makes a Successful Splash in Debut Run

Making a remarkable splash in its inaugural staging, the 1st Tirol Swimming Cup successfully gathered swimmers, coaches, and sports enthusiasts from various schools and clubs across the country on May 9–10, 2026 at the Victoriano B. Tirol Jr. Aquatic Center. The two-day competition showcased the athletes’ discipline, determination, and passion for the sport, marking the event as a promising new milestone in the local swimming community. 

Emerging as overall champion was Hydro Immersion Narwhal Swim Team from Cebu City with the highest accumulated score of 2,700 points. Bohol Blackmarlins Swim Team secured second place with 765.50 points, while Loon Bohol Dolphins Swim Club finished third with 584 points. Adding excitement to the event, winning swimmers were given the opportunity to compete against mystery swimmer Ivo Nicolai Enot, the Palarong Pambansa record holder in the 100-meter backstroke and UAAP Seniors record holder in the same event under the Ateneo FAST Swim Team. Notably, Rian Marco “Mico” A. Tirol and Victoriano Martin “Renzo” A. Tirol IV are among the top-tier swimmers of the Ateneo FAST Swim Team.

Mico currently holds the Philippine record in the 50-meter breaststroke SC which he established during the Singapore Leg of the World Aquatics World Cup 2024; Junior Philippine record holder 50m breast stroke and is a seven-time Palarong Pambansa athlete. He is also the Palarong Pambansa record holder in the 50-meter breaststroke and a six-year record holder in the 100-meter breaststroke.

In the UAAP, he holds the juniors’ records in the 50-, 100-, and 200-meter breaststroke events, as well as the seniors’ records in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke. Internationally, he earned a silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Championships and established a record in the same event at the Asian Open Schools Invitational Aquatics Championships (AOSIC). Meanwhile, Renzo is a UAAP gold medalist in the 50-, 100-, and 200-meter breaststroke events and a Palarong Pambansa medalist in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke categories.

The successful staging of the 1st Tirol Swimming Cup fostered excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie in competitive swimming while inspiring aspiring young athletes to reach new heights in the sport.
