Tagbilaran relief package channels P27.5M to households
More than ₱27.5 million has already been released through food assistance, transport subsidies, and fuel support, putting cash directly into households and keeping money moving through Tagbilaran’s local economy under the city’s ₱40.35-million Energy Crisis Social Protection Package.
Data from the City Government of Tagbilaran showed that the “Kompra sa Tagbi” Food Voucher Program released ₱19,451,200 from April 28 to May 28, 2026, giving both residents and market vendors relief as commodity prices climbed.
The report indicated that 109,693 food vouchers were spent on market goods, while 97,256 vouchers were encashed by participating vendors, showing how funds cycled quickly within the city’s local markets.
Meanwhile, the city’s “Libreng Sakay” transportation assistance program delivered ₱2,135,320 worth of subsidies from April 13 to May 27, 2026.
During the period, the free transportation initiative carried 117,987 passengers and completed 6,966 trips, easing the burden on workers, students, and daily commuters facing higher fuel prices.
The city government also handed out nearly ₱6 million in fuel subsidies to qualified tricycle drivers and fisherfolk in Tagbilaran City, with each beneficiary receiving ₱2,000 to help cover rising fuel costs for public transportation operations.
Mayor Jane Yap highlighted the wider economic impact of the initiatives, saying the programs directly supported vendors, households, commuters, and transport workers across the city.
“These programs have greatly helped our economy, vendors, households, commuters, and drivers.
We remain committed to delivering responsive services for Tagbilaranon families,” Mayor Yap said.

Tagbilaran City welcomes new wave of businesses this May
Several new business establishments officially opened in Tagbilaran City this month of May, further strengthening the city’s growing local economy and creating additional opportunities for employment, tourism, and commercial activity.

Present during the opening activities were Mayor Jane Yap and first district Congressman John Geesnell Yap II.
