Police arrested a high-value drug suspect and seized methamphetamine worth an estimated P3.75 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Isidro, Dauis, Bohol on Friday night, authorities said.

The suspect, identified as Jose Benan Del Rosario, 31, an unemployed resident of Barangay Tabajan in Guindulman town, was arrested around 8:55 p.m. in Purok 7 of the barangay, police said.

He faces charges under Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was carried out by the Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Bohol Police Provincial Office under Lt. Col. Joemar Pomarejos, with Lt. Dave Surio and Lt. Noubell Padernal handling the buy-bust directly.

The unit coordinated with the Dauis Municipal Police Station, under provincial director Col. Patricio Degay Jr.

Authorities recovered six large and three medium sachets of suspected shabu with a combined gross weight of 551.1 grams, police said.

Also seized were a cellphone, a pouch used to carry the drugs, P1,000 in marked money, 11 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, and a motorcycle allegedly used in the transaction.

The seized drugs will be turned over to the Bohol Forensic Unit for laboratory testing, police said.

Del Rosario is being held at the Dauis police lock-up while charges are being prepared.
